Why Doesn’t My Rel=Author Markup Information Appear?
I had a great question from Jeroen, one of our readers, asked ‘Is this still supported by Google? If I Google for ‘google doodle animations’ I find the article of socialmotus, but I don’t see the author information… Is this normal?’ Google’s rel=author markup works in quite a mysterious way (to the frustration of authors like myself). So I wanted to follow up with my previous article ‘Google Rel=Author Markup: Why Your Picture Needs To Be In The Search Results’ and clarify what you can expect with this whole author markup business.
How Does Rel=Author Work?
The inconsistent nature of author markup information is characteristic of Google search in general, which shows different results for different people at different times. As an author, you have no control over whether your author information appears alongside your search listing for a particular user. In some instances Google even rejects participants. This means your author information won’t ever show up for anyone’s search. And sadly, no one but Google knows why.
In light of Jeroen’s comment, I cross my fingers and search for the ‘google doodle animations’ keyword phrase I used in my previous article, hoping it hadn’t disappeared into Internet abyss. To my relief, not only do I see my name and photo appear, this time there is a ‘More by Siv Rauv’ option next to my name, which I haven’t seen before.
Google Rel=Author Markup: Why Your Picture Needs To Be In The Search Results
Chances are you’ve come across a search result with the author’s name and photo next to their search listing. Users tend to gravitate towards these results as they stand out on the crowded page. Yet few businesses have taken advantage of this feature. The internet is saturated with content similar to yours and having your author information appear is a simple (and free) way to add prominence and credibility to your search listing. According to a recent article by Search Engine Land, only 1 in every 5 Google searches shows Rel=Author (a.k.a. author markup) in the top 100 results, so it’s the perfect time to jump on board before your competitors do.

Achieving a top ranking on the Google organic results page seems to be the goal of every website. But have you ever wondered how paid search can affect the amount of traffic you receive? Google’s research team have recently shed some light into the relationship between search and paid results, finding that in some cases websites experienced a whopping 89% drop in clicks.
“When we released the first paper, we had a lot of questions coming back, asking more more details around incrementality and under what situations can you expect different numbers?,” said David Chan, Google’s lead researcher. Here is a summary of the findings below.
Analysing this figure
Surely anyone ranking on the very top of the search results wouldn’t see an 89% drop in clicks if PPC wasn’t in the picture? Continue reading »
How Google Search Plus Your World Affects Your SEO And Social Marketing Strategy
Google has faced a mountain of criticism over its new ‘Search Plus Your World’ (SPYW) feature which displays “personalized” results from one lone social network; its very own Google +. Many, including myself, believe they’re sacrificing the quality of “personalized” search results by favouring their own social network. Regardless of your thoughts on this new feature, as a business owner or marketer relying on Google as a major source of traffic, it is more important to understand how this affects your SEO and social marketing strategy.
What does it mean for SEO?
As the most dominant search engine in the world, Google has essentially changed the way search operates by introducing SPYW. In summary, when users are logged into their Google accounts their results will automatically personalized based on their previous searches, history and social connections. For example, when searching for a keyword phrase, a related Google + post from someone in your circle may appear in the results. In this way, Google is moving search towards showing the best results for one specific user, as opposed to showing the best results for all its users.

Google +1 your website to help drive traffic to your site
In an attempt to provide more personalized search results, Google has announced the +1 button is officially available for third party websites. It works in the same way as the Facebook ‘Like’ and Twitter ‘Follow’ buttons. As a result, you will now be seeing the +1 button alongside these buttons on web pages.
When it first rolled out, users were limited to using the +1 button for search results only. During this time, Google made it clear they would be using it as an indicator of the quality of search results. This latest development looks to have even greater implications for webmasters, their website ranking and ultimately driving traffic to their websites.

Google Update: SEO Guidelines Every Webmaster Should Consider
Since it rolled out, the internet has been consumed with deciphering Google’s panda update and its effects on websites. For those of you not familiar with the update, it is mainly targeted towards improving website content and articles as unique article distribution has a major effect on your web site ranking. However, as Amit Singhal, Google’s head of search explains,
“Panda was just one of roughly 500 search improvements we expect to roll out to search this year. In fact, since we launched Panda, we’ve rolled out over a dozen additional tweaks to our ranking algorithms”.
He suggests focusing on ‘on delivering the best possible experience for users’ rather than trying to counter the effects on specific algorithm updates. But where would you start? Google has revealed a list of questions it uses “to assess the ‘quality’ of a page or an article”:
XGen SEO Software Review – Why “I Listened to Google and I Failed”?
Recently, I have read an article title “Case Study: I Listened to Google and I Failed” at http://www.wolf-howl.com/seo/i-listened-to-google- and-failed/. At the same time, we received an email from one of our clients to claim that he has used our software for last 30 days but he did not get any results, here is his original email: …….
“So after running a campaign for over 24 hours … 2 weeks later I look at how many links were created and there are less than 20 … and only about 1-2 good one’s … there mained are social media sites that loko spam my if not fakes. So while it seems to work, the quality of links and the quantity of good one’s doesn’t justify the expense. ”
This make me to write this article to talk about “quality links”. Currently, we have been told that: if you want to get higher ranking on Google, you need to build “quality links” from web sites with similar contents that link to you. This concept has been working well in the past. But now, with the internet move to the new social media era, the game has changed.
If you listened to Google and follow the Google’s advice about link building, no doubt that you will failed as http://www.wolf-howl.com/seo/i -listened-to-google-and-failed/. “quality link” is a big lie in current SEO market, too many honest people have followed this advice and only proof that they are failed. We believe there is not such “quality links” or “fake links” when we are talking about social media. Any links from social media network sites are “good quality links”.
Why? Because Google love social media sites, that was why it spent billions of dollars to acquired Blogger.com and YouTube, any discussion or message cross the social media sites are represented “human” involvement, this is what Google want. Now, for SEO, it is not about how many “physical links” you can generate for your web site, it is about how many times your web site has been “mentioned” in the social media sites. The true is: you can follow Google’s advice to focus on building quality links with no results, or you can involve in social media sites with so called “fake” or “dummy” links to get your web site to the top 10 ranking on Google in less than 30 days.
Many of our clients have reported that their ranking have been improved after using our SEO software in 3 or 4 weeks. Some clients have reported that they are moved to the top 10 ranking in 2 weeks. There are a few clients have reported that their web site has jump to the top 10 ranking in about 2 or days after submitting the article with the XGen SEO software, but then drop to page 2 or 3 after 2 or 3 weeks. Then do another submission again, it’s back to top 10 position.
Our testing and experiment has shown the same results. it has clearly indicated that SEO is not just about “quality links”, it is about “involvement” in social media sites. You don’t necessary to have “physical links” pointing to your web site, most of the time, Google’s link checking command “link:http://www.your_web_site_URL.com” never show the real number to you. We believe the most important factor to affect your ranking is “number of times your web site have been mentioned” in the social media sites. The reason for this is becuse social media represents human involvement, each time your web site have been mentioned in the social media will represent a “vote” from a “live” person, it does not mean each people in social media sites need to create a link to link back to your web site when they try to recommend your web site. People can simply say “Hey, I would like to recommend this web site at http://www.xgenseo.com as a text to their friends or followers in the social media sites, it is not necessary to create a link to your web site. As long as your web site has been mentioned, you will receive a “vote”. More people talking about your web site in the social media sites, the higher chance Google will give your web site a higher ranking, because your web site have been talked more than other web sites by “live” person.
Even though this experiment is still in an early stage, but we have seen some great results from this concept. From survey to our clients, more than 90% of customers have reported that their ranking has been improved after using the our SEO software.
If you have already tried all the SEO techniques that did not work in the past, then give this a try and let me know your experiment after 2 or 3 months. I am very interested to know your feedbacks. The other method of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is by using the seo tools. So for analyzing each and every parameter we need to have different seo tools like keyword suggestion tool, Meta tag generator, Backlink Analyzer, keyword ranking checker etc. This could be a cumbersome process. So there is a need of a good SEO software suite that could provide the tools for every stage of the SEO process ranging.
