| Our
rating: EXCELLENT
Pros: Bid Maximizer
has a simple intuitive interface. This software
comes as a welcome relief from managing
multiple pay-per-click campaigns in their
own environments. It is also relatively
inexpensive.
Cons: Due to restrictions
placed on the company by Yahoo! Search Marketing,
Bid Maximizer does not offer support
for Yahoo! Search Marketing pay-per-click
search engine in this package. Users advertising
with Yahoo! Search Marketing would be forced
to purchase a separate software package
specifically for that search engine. We
would also wish that customer service could
be reached by a toll-free number.
Bottom line: Bid
Maximizer does exactly what it promises
to do; organize and automate your pay-per-click
search engine campaigns. This software has
plenty of features for the money and is
definitely a useful tool for anyone managing
multiple pay-per-click campaigns. |
Introduction
Bid Maximizer™ is the software that
automates pay-per-click search engine bidding process.
This product not only manages your campaigns once
they have begun, but offers assistance in building
a campaign and selecting your keywords.
Bid Maximizer™ excels at optimizing
your pay-per-click campaigns by eliminating bid
gaps and making sure you do not overpay for clicks.
After taking this software for a spin we also
found it to be a great time-saver (even with automated
bidding turned off).
Features
Bid Maximizer™ does exactly what
it promises to do; organize and automate your
pay-per-click search engine campaigns. The Advance
version can be seamlessly integrated with most
major pay-per-click search engines including Google
AdWords, MIVA, SearchFeed, 7Search, ePilot and
Enhance Interactive. The Advance version does
not support Yahoo! Search Marketing (formerly
Yahoo), but a separate version of Bid
Maximizer™ for Yahoo! Search Marketing only.
The software also comes with a keyword builder
which pulls its list from Yahoo database making
the creation of the targeted keyword list a snap.
We were especially impressed with the competition
monitor, which keeps track of your competitors’
bidding behavior, enabling you to plan your bidding
strategy accordingly. The ability to choose between
automated and manual bidding was also useful.
Even with automatic bidding disabled, Bid Maximizer™
proved to be a great tool for managing multiple
campaigns from numerous search engines in a single,
easy-to-use interface. However, we were a little
disappointed to find that ROI Builder was not
included in the package and required a separate
subscription which costs at least another $20
per month.
“
Bid Maximizer TM does exactly what it promises
to do; organize and automate your pay-per-click
search engine campaigns.”
Interface
The software installed on our system without a
glitch and we were up and running in a matter
of minutes. We found Bid Maximizer™
to have a very intuitive interface; right from
the start the software provided us with tutorials
on everything we needed to get started. We were
especially glad to find a step-by-step tutorial
on how to manage our Google AdWords campaign with
Bid Maximizer™.
Automating bids was as easy as selecting the
search engine and clicking “create new account”
link. After entering our pay-per-click search
engine account information, the maximum amount
we were willing to bid and specifying how often
we wanted Bid Maximizer™ to update the bids,
we were done. The software also offered to extract
the existing keyword list from our account or
create a new list with the keyword builder. In
less than ten minutes we were able to completely
automate the Google AdWords bidding process.
Customer Support
Bid Maximizer™ is distributed by
Apex Pacific Pty offices in Australia, the United
States and Europe. They offer customer support
via phone (unfortunately not via a toll-free number)
or through 24/7 customer email support via both
their United States and Australia offices. Turnaround
time on support or sales calls is said to be up
to 24 hours, but usually no more than about an
hour.
Pricing
Bid Maximizer™ is offered in six
packages with the price varying depending on the
size of the campaign: the price goes up as the
number of keywords increases. If your campaign
is small and uses fewer than 200 keywords, then
the price will be as low as $20 per month or $240
per year.
Overall, Bid Maximizer™ delivers
a good product for the money.
Conclusion
If you are running campaigns on many pay-per-click
search engines and wish to simplify the process,
Bid Maximizer™ is the tool for you.
With all of its features Bid Maximizer™
outperforms many leading pay-per-click campaign
management tools out there that cost a lot more.
That said, the only concrete drawbacks which we
found are the necessity of purchasing two versions
of the product if you advertise with Yahoo! Search
Marketing, the lack of a toll-free number for
