Q:I always receive an error message "Update campaign failed" when I update campaigns with PPC BidMax. Why
A:

The most common reason for this error is because the "Bidding Option" was not set to "Manual Bidding for Click" in your Adwords Campaign setting.

If you have set your "Bidding Options" to "Automatic bidding" or "Focus on conversions", then you cannot change the bids manually.

Please refer to the screenshot below and make sure you have selected "Manual bidding for clicks":
